1. THE 'BABYGROW' PROJECT

THE 'BABYGROW' PROJECT

Helping babies and children to grow by providing the essentials for Life

In 1994, The 'BABYGROW' Project was launched at St. Luke's Church, Brislington, Bristol in conjunction with The 'BABYGRO' Project at The Cathedral Church of St. John, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, the initial aim being to help prevent "baby dumping" by destitute pregnant women.

From these beginnings the work quickly spread to include helping a number of child support projects in Zimbabwe, supporting children in the Bulawayo area and at St. James' Mission, Nyamandhlovu.

'BABYGROW' donations now go to help the following, through our Administrators based in Bulawayo:
* Support abandoned babies, now being taken to a local hospital
* Feed and clothe orphans and children living in poverty
* Support a home for Aids orphans
* Pay education fees for orphans and children from destitute families
* Supply medicines for a rural clinic - built through the "ANY Money" appeal

"ANY Money of ANY Age from ANYwhere" 'BABYGROW' raises money for its work by collecting literally ANY money- British or foreign, notes or coins, old or new.

Every coin has a value to 'BABYGROW' : Through this collection, 'BABYGROW' has

* Supplied an orphanage with a borehole and associated plumbing
* Supplied a number of children's homes and schools with much-needed equipment
* Built a clinic in a vast rural area in the south of the country

However, most of the money raised now goes to buy the very basic necessities for life - food, clothing and medical supplies.

HELP ALONG THE LINE...

'BABYGROW' has the support of the HSBC Bank plc and Bath Stamp & Coin Shop who, between them, exchange everything collected for sterling.

'BABYGROW' is a church-sponsored charity and as such incurs no running costs, no expenses and no commission is charged on any exchange or financial transaction.

Every pound, peso, penny, cent, sixpence or sovereign donated to 'BABYGROW' goes to help babies and children in need in Zimbabwe

Many individuals, churches and organisations contribute to 'BABYGROW' by either fund-raising on BABYGROW's behalf, or collecting together their various "monies" and donating them either directly, or via one of the "collection points" in the Bristol area.

If you feel that you can support our work either by donating "ANY Money" or fund-raising, or would like further information, please contact: Mike and Lesley Coppin Telephone: 0117 9776705 E-mail: mikeandles@blueyonder.co.uk or write to us at:

Funds are urgently needed for this lifeline provided through a religious order.

Funds continue to be urgently needed for this lifeline, which is provided through a religious order, and the BZS decided to keep the appeal open for the time being. If you would like to make a donation please send it to:

3. DIGNITY, PERIOD!

Help Zimbabwean Women Take Back their Dignity

In the UK women buy more than three billion disposable sanitary products every year. It's something we take for granted.

But millions of women in Zimbabwe go without these basic products. As a result many are suffering from infection, depression and, in some serious cases, infertility. There have also been examples of women being beaten by their husbands who wrongly attribute their infection to infidelity.

Working in solidarity with the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, Action for Southern Africa (ACTSA) has launched a campaign to raise funds to buy quantities of sanitary products and distribute them free of charge to Zimbabwean women. 4. WOMEN OF ZIMBABWE ARISE [WOZA]

WOZA, Women of Zimbabwe Arise is a women’s civic movement formed in Zimbabwe in 2003. They aim to provide women from all walks of life with a united voice to speak out on issues affecting their day-to-day lives and to stand up for rights and freedoms in Zimbabwe. They do it by defying repressive legislation and taking to the streets to draw attention to the hardships they are facing. Since their first action in February 2003 WOZA have taken to the streets over 30 times and more than 1000 WOZA women have been arrested.

OVER 2006 WOZA and the recently inaugurated Men of Zimbabwe Arise (MOZA) have conducted a massive countrywide consultative process leading to the birth of the Peoples Charter bringing focus to the non-violent struggle for a socially just Zimbabwe. You can see copies of the charter at http://www.swradioafrica.com/pages/peoplescharter071206.htm)*

In a recent statement WOZA has said `As we finalise the non violent strategic planning for 2007, those of us on the frontline need more than ever the solidarity both direct and indirect of Zimbabweans in the diaspora. We also call on all organisations within and without Zimbabwe to join hands with us to respect the wishes of Zimbabweans expressed in the charter by endorsing the charter and becoming ‘Peoples Charter Champions’.
